I watched the new video of ‘Let It Rain’ as done by The Doobie Brothers along with Peter Frampton. It’s wonderfully executed and it’s a great take on what was always a good song.
Watching this new version by them also brought up something that I’ve been thinking about for years.
Let It Rain has a very similar chord structure to ‘It Don’t Come Easy’ by Ringo Starr (and they are even in the same key).
I decided to cut and paste them together for fun. What I found very astonishing while doing it, is that the two songs are actually recorded at relatively the same tempo as well…
There’s no doubt somebody ‘paid tribute to’ the other… I just don’t know who was first… in other words, “who stole from who”?
Hope you find it as interesting as I did.
