TBT: November 2008 Sanai, Egypt
I awoke this first morning approximately 10 miles across the desert from the Gaza Strip. Evidently it was easy to hear the fighting when they engaged. (I’m sure this very spot is a very noisy one these days)
It was a beautiful desert morning and as I positioned myself on the front steps of my barracks, I watched the entire camp with military personal from all over the world take place in a ‘Terry Fox Run’ for cancer research. I was taken aback by how one person’s bravery in the face of this horrible disease could touch the lives and hearts of so many people all over the world. I never met Terry, but I had a strong sense of undeserved pride that morning. Terry’s legacy is worldwide…
