Trama at The Chain and Ballroom- Matsqui Penitentiary, Abbotsford BC, 1982

Trama at The Chain and Ballroom – Matsqui Penitentiary, Abbotsford BC, 1982 Loved this gig… I believe it was an Easter Dinner. There were wives, girlfriends, kids there…. but wow… I LEARNED!   When I first got into the Matsqui Penn to play this gig, I was escorted to the stage. In those days with […]

TBT – The Roseland Ballroom in NYC with Bachman and Turner, November 2010

Probably one of the more memorable times in my life thus far. We were to shoot a live DVD in the infamous Roseland Ballroom in NYC (since torn down sadly). I LOVE NYC – always have from my first time there in 2007 (***). I had played there earlier with Randy Bachman’s Band in 2008 […]

Throw Back Thursday – Bruce Greenwood and Don Felder – July 12, 2003

Cease and Desist got a call to back up Don Felder from The Eagles, as he was going to play onstage during the ‘Courtnall Celebrity Classic’ in Victoria. The event raises money for mental illness disorders and this was the first of what was to become a semi-annual event. I was thrilled of course. Having […]

The Montreal Jazz Festival – 07.07.07

Randy Bachman with Mick Dalla-Vee Montreal Jazz Festival 07.07.07

The Montreal Jazz Festival – 07.07.07 Video Here: Jazzthing Montreal Jazz Festival 2007 The date was 07.07.2007…. and apparently we actually started at 07:07 PM just to make it ‘magic’ (however, unless Randy’s watch is on a different time zone as you can see in the video, that could be ‘folklore’) Montreal Jazz Festival. The […]

Throw Back Thursday (posted August 7th, 2014)

TBT: November 2008 Sanai, Egypt I awoke this first morning approximately 10 miles across the desert from the Gaza Strip. Evidently it was easy to hear the fighting when they engaged. (I’m sure this very spot is a very noisy one these days) It was a beautiful desert morning and as I positioned myself on […]

Derek Sivers

I made aquaintence with Derek Sivers back in 1995 when, at the time, he was gaining reputation as an independent music distributor. I looked him up for help on getting my 1994 Christmas album 'out there' and because of his help, it continues to sell to this day. He came to run one of the best and most efficient independent recording distribution companies I have ever heard of called 'CD Baby'.

After opening our ‘Vinyl Tap Live 2014’ season with a show in Oshawa the previous evening, we played Massey Hall the next night. I had played there once before as part of Randy’s JazzThing tour several years ago with the late Jeff Healey and Duke Robillard which was a thrill for sure. Massey Hall originally […]

The Greenest Sort of Green – Greenhouse.

This is a bit of a departure from my usual ramblings. I recently visited some of my family in Port Alberni BC, Canada and while there, looked in the backyard and was reminded of this video on YouTube. My brother Dennis and his wife Denise completed this greenhouse project a few years ago, and it […]

Hartley Bay, BC – Village of Heroes – slapped in the face

Cease & Desist just did a show last night in Hartley Bay, BC. Hartley Bay is a First Nations community on the coast of British Columbia. The village is located at the mouth of Douglas Channel, about 630 kilometres north of Vancouver and 145 kilometres south of Prince Rupert. It became most famous for it’s […]
